Nokia 8110: Day two.

We went for a boat ride, and I watched the kids while the other grownups shopped for groceries. It was a perfect news update moment. But what could I do with my Nokia 8110? Close to nothing. I had to actually watch the kids like a responsible person!

I also found a loophole. Since it so easy to connect to the wifi hotspot, I have naturally connected my iPhone to it and I'm back on Snap. It's like the addict discovering that he can sell methadone to buy heroin.

I'm hoping that carrying two phones is too much of a hassle for this to ruin my smart phone detox.

A few people have asked "why are you doing this to yourself!?!", but if both Apple and Google - the pushers behind smart phone addictions - are trying to cure something, then there has to be an illness.

There's also been a lot of media attention directed towards how our smart phones are hurting our brains, causing depression and killing our abilities to focus.

I hope that this will allow me to read more lengthy material, like books, and switch back to using my laptop instead of my phone.

This is my second blog post in a week. Perhaps my tide is already turning from passive consumption to active production.
